The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has announced that the 2021-2022 Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) will be collected in the winter of the 2023-2024 School Year. All public LEAs that receive federal funding are required to report and certify their CRDC data by February 26th, 2024.
The 2021-2022 CRDC timeline posted on the CRDC Resource Center is:
This year CRDC requested assistance from KSDE to identify the three main contacts and the buildings that will be reported for districts to reduce the burden of completing the normal registration process. Districts that have verified their contacts through KSDE will not complete the normal registration process announced on the OCR CRDC Resource Center.
Districts that would like to opt out and register normally will need to contact Richard Matteson (rmatteson@ksde.org) to opt out.
The data that KSDE previously collected for state and federal reporting was preloaded for all districts that did not opt-out prior to the system opening for LEAs on December 11th. LEAs are ultimately responsible for Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of all data prior to Certifying their CRDC.
There are many resources posted on the CRDC Resource Center about the data to report, which schools to report, and other relevant information on completing the process. On the Search CRDC Resources page there are several documents that may answer commonly asked questions.

KSDE has a listserv used to communicate updates on the CRDC process including notifications from CRDC, reminders for steps in the process, and updates on the assistance offered by KSDE intended to ease the reporting burden on districts. If you would like to be added to the KS CRDC listserv, please contact Richard Matteson (rmatteson@ksde.org).
