Board members will be helping recognize the 2015 Kansas Teacher of the Year finalists at the annual KTOY Awards Banquet Nov. 22 in Wichita. The Kansas Teacher of the Year will be announced at this event.

Chairman Jana Shaver, who chose not to seek re-election to the State Board, will conduct her last meeting Dec. 9. Shaver has been a State Board member since 2007 representing District 9 in southeast Kansas. She has served as vice chairman and on numerous committees including the Kansas Advisory Committee for Career & Technical Education. Jim Porter of Fredonia was elected to fill this vacancy and will be sworn in this January.
