The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) - is an organization whose mission is to advance the quality of teaching and learning by: maintaining high and rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do; providing a national voluntary system certifying teachers who meet these standards, and; advocating related education reforms to integrate National Board Certification in American education and to capitalize on the expertise of National Board Certified Teachers. There will not be federal funding sources available to provide fee subsidy support to National Board initial candidates for the 2013-14 assessment year. It is also anticipated that no state funding will be available to provide subsidy support for initial candidates. If state funds become available for limited candidate fee support, notification and applications will be posted on this website in late spring or early summer, 2013. 2012-13 Candidates: The fee subsidy program for initial candidates is closed for the 2012-13 assessment year.
