The Communications and Recognition Programs (CRP) team has responsibility for both internal and external communication, as well as coordinating and implementing a number of state and national recognition programs.
The team helps to articulate and promote State Board of Education priorities and provides accurate and timely information on State Board action and Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) programs. The director of communications serves as a liaison with the media for both KSDE and the State Board.
The CRP team provides external communications to assist the field in understanding and complying with state programs. The office also assists local districts in their communication efforts both between districts and with their patrons. Internal communications include regular updates to the state regarding agency activities, as well as assistance with graphic arts, design and layout of program materials.
The team has responsibility for overseeing the operation of about 12 recognition programs honoring exemplary schools, educators and students. The emphasis is on improvement of schools, student performance and the teaching profession. Responsibilities for the program include maintaining selection and review committees, coordinating events, securing sponsorships and leading growth efforts. Maintaining relationships with institutions of higher education and education organizations throughout the state is also a high priority.
