A text-dependent professional development course will be offered via Zoom from 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays from Jan. 11-Feb. 8.
Grounded in evidence-based practices, “Bringing Words to Life: Robust Vocabulary Instruction” classifies vocabulary as Tier 2 and 3, directs how to select words for instruction, exemplifies direct instruction and engages learners in activities that promote word knowledge and reading comprehension.

Another professional development opportunity will take place via Zoom from 4-6 p.m. Wednesdays from Jan. 11-Feb. 15.
“The Writing Revolution” offers professionals the opportunity to discuss writing strategies and scaffolds provided to impact student writing. Transferring evidence-based practices to expand, organize and revise student writing will allow students scaffolds to impact their writing. Six principles that will extend teaching prowess in writing are:

College credit for both professional development opportunities is available through Fort Hays State University for one, two or three graduate credit hours for $80 per credit hour.
