As some of you may be aware, Ford is no longer producing the 10-passenger Ford Transit Van. KSDE has been receiving numerous requests for alternative options.  

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) within the past few days has obtained a state contract through Shawnee Mission Ford for a Transit T-350 LR van, which will be taken to a certified, reputable and licensed second-stage manufacturer.  

The second-stage manufacturer will reconfigure the vehicle to a 10-passenger rated capacity van. When a certified rated capacity sticker is applied, it means the completed vehicle meets all relevant Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The manufacturer affixing the label is the last step in the certification process.  

The state contract number is 5600E, and the current contract price is $45,767, plus delivery. The reconfiguration will cost about an additional $4,000.  

Follow this link and enter “5600” in the “Contract Number” field for more information on specifications and additional vehicles, which KDOT currently has on contract including mini vans, pickups and SUV’s (compact, midsize and full size). Procurement and Contracts (ks.gov)  

The cutoff date to order one of these vehicles is Sept. 2, 2022.

Pricing at the time of delivery may be higher because of changes in world markets. It is the responsibility of the purchase award contractor to keep the ordering entity aware of any cost changes prior to acceptance of delivery. If either party can’t come to an agreement, the award could be canceled with no penalty to either party.
