Learning Forward Kansas to host workshop focused on engaging the adult brain

Learning Forward Kansas is hosting Marcia Tate and her presentation “Sit and Get Won’t Grow Dendrites: 20 Professional Learning Strategies that Engage the Adult Brain” from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Feb. 7.

The workshop will be held at Hope Community Church, 1831 E. 21st St. in Andover. It is designed for administrators, staff developers, teacher leaders, trainers, instructional coaches and coordinators, college and university professors, business and community leaders, educational consultants and anyone else who teaches the adult brain.

Participants will be engaged while they learn the answers to the following three basic questions:

  1. What are 20 strategies that I can use to make my professional learning experience unforgettable?
  2. What are techniques that appear to result in sustained adult behavior change?
  3. What are 10 things that keep adults living well beyond the age of 80?

These strategies will enable staff development professionals to plan and deliver memorable presentations that improve teaching practices and increase academic achievement.

Tate is the former director of professional development for the DeKalb County School System in Decatur, Georgia. Currently through her company, Developing Minds Inc., she serves as an educational consultant and has taught more than 450,000 administrators, teachers and parents, as well as community and business leaders.

The cost to attend is $300. More information and registration are available by clicking here
