Kodály Certification Courses offered through Wichita State University

Are you looking for a way to sharpen your teaching skills and musicianship? Or perhaps a way to renew yourself musically at the end of the year? Would you like to join a community of educators interested in refining their pedagogical processes?

The Kodály Certification Courses at Wichita State University involve classes in pedagogy, song materials and analysis, solfege and musicianship, and conducting.

All participants sing in a choir and attend special topics sessions throughout the courses. Faculty members are nationally recognized, Kodály-inspired instructors with expertise and wisdom to share.

New participants start with Level 1 pedagogy and analysis courses and choose the Elementary Track or Secondary Track. Participants who finish three summers of training receive full certification through the Organization of American Kodály Educators.

The courses begin with an orientation session from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 4. Regular classes are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, from June 5-16. The cost for the non-credit workshop is $600.

You can also take these courses for graduate credit, and housing is available. All classes take place in the Duerksen Fine Arts building on the campus of Wichita State University.
