Educators meet with Commissioner Watson to learn, give feedback

Ten Kansas educators met with Kansas Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson on Tuesday, March 7, to receive an update on program initiatives, discuss educational topics and give feedback as part of the Commissioner’s Teacher Advisory Council.

The meeting took place from 10 a.m. until noon in the Board Room of the Landon State Office Building, Suite 102, in Topeka.

The Commissioner’s Teacher Advisory Council is just one of several advisory councils that Commissioner Watson has in place. Most of the councils meet twice per year – once in the spring and once in the fall.

There are 15 people on the Teacher Advisory Council, of which 10 could attend Tuesday’s meeting.

The teachers serving on the council are from districts across the state, including Dodge City Unified School District 443; Bonner Springs USD 204; Wamego USD 320; Blue Valley USD 229; De Soto USD 232; Junction City USD 475; Buhler USD 313; Frontenac USD 249; and Halstead USD 440.
