During the spring 2022 semester, the Kansas State Department of Education’s Accreditation and Design (AD) team held focus groups to gather input and insight from the field regarding Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA).
Through these conversations, three areas of focus emerged – purpose, process and product. To respond to the feedback in the area of product, KSDE is adjusting the System and Outside Visitation Team (OVT) reporting requirements for systems in years one through four of the KESA process.
Systems in year five for the 2022-2023 school year, and OVTs supporting systems in year five, will have no changes made to the report. Year five systems and OVTS will operate under the existing reporting expectations.
Systems in years one through four during the 2022-2023 school year won’t need to complete all sections of the existing KESA Forms/Authenticated Application. For the 2022-2023 school year, systems will only be required to complete three sections - compliance, needs assessment process, and goals and assurances. All other sections of the KESA report will be considered optional for the 2022-2023 school year.
