Dr. Jane Groff, executive director of the Kansas Parent Information Resource Center (KPIRC), the KPIRC organization, the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) and the Kansas Technical Assistance Systems Network (TASN) have put together a document that can help guide families on the Social, Emotional and Character Development (SECD) standards.
SECD standards were endorsed by the Kansas State Board of Education in 2012 to provide schools with a framework for integrating social-emotional learning and character development into a child’s education.
These standards can help students learn, practice and model essential personal life skills and habits that contribute to academic, vocational and personal success.
The document, which can be accessed here, is geared toward students in K-12 and is provided by KPIRC.
