A grant will allow school districts with paid affiliated FCCLA chapters to attend a workshop for free to learn about integrating FCCLA into the Family and Consumer Science (FCS) classroom. It also will provide funding to purchase two national program curriculums, said Pam Lamb, the state FCCLA adviser.
FCCLA is intracurricular and connects national standards and pathways. During these workshops, Lamb and teacher trainers from across the state will share how they use the FCCLA national program curriculum in their classrooms.
The Family and Consumer Science Curriculum Integration grant will reimburse workshop costs through an application process. Contact Lamb at plamb@ksde.org for an application. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23. Trainings are available at six locations across the state. Districts/systems must have a paid affiliated FCCLA chapter (not just the adviser affiliation) before submitting the grant application.
Grant parameters:
College credit is available from MidAmerica Nazarene University or Pittsburg State University.
The cost is $25 per person, which includes a light breakfast and lunch. Again, the grant will reimburse workshop costs.
