National School Bus Safety Week is Oct. 21-25 and Kansas School Transportation Appreciation Day is Wednesday, Oct. 23.
This important public education program is an excellent way for parents, students, teachers, motorists, school bus operations, school administrators, and other interested parties to join forces and address the importance of school bus safety.
Kansas School Transportation Appreciation Day is Oct. 23
Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly has proclaimed Oct. 23 to be Kansas School Transportation Appreciation Day.
On this special day, do not forget to celebrate your bus drivers and other transportation staff with a recognition like thank you cards from students, a breakfast, lunch, or some other kind of fun event. These individuals are an important part of the education process by transporting students to and from school, preparing them for a successful learning day. Remind them they play a key role in preparing students to be successful. Don’t forget to take photos of how you celebrate Kansas School Transportation Appreciation Day and send them to Melissa Ostermeyer, mostermeyer@ksde.org.
