The Kansas School Transportation Safety Conference and State Driving Competition will be held June 5-7, at the Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview, in Wichita. During this three-day event, school transportation professionals will connect and learn how to improve operations and safety for their transportation teams.
This conference strives to educate, not just the transportation administrators but the school bus drivers, mechanics, dispatchers, and paraprofessionals/monitors through workshops and speakers who provide workable solutions and practical answers to questions about student transportation. It is designed to increase safety and make local operations more efficient and effective.
Additionally, school bus drivers must meet significantly more stringent requirements for licensure, qualifications and training than most other CDL drivers. The public should view school transportation staff as vital professionals in our education system. They are not just drivers, monitors and mechanics, but also role models, mentors, counselors and advisors interacting with your district’s students. This conference is a one-stop shop to meet these needs within your transportation department.
The conference program, registration form and more are available here: https://www.ksde.org/Agency/Fiscal-and-Administrative-Services/School-Finance/School-Bus-Safety/Kansas-State-Pupil-Transportation-Association or by visiting http://www.kspta.net.
