KSDE’s School Bus Safety Unit (SBSU) has a few training opportunities coming up in February and March.
The Kansas Department of Revenue is conducting CDL Proxy Testing. These proxy testing events are a great way for someone to obtain a commercial learners permit (CLP) and entry level driver theory (ELDT) training. These are two of the first steps for someone to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and being able to drive a school bus.
This will be held Feb. 20-22 at the Western State Expo Center in Dodge City and March 12-13 at the Kansas City USD 500 Central Office in Kansas City.
The registration deadline is Feb. 15. For more information and to register, click here.
The KSDE SBSU is offering a five-hour informational workshop for any mechanic performing the Part I Mechanical School/Activity Bus Safety Inspection. This workshop is designed to provide information to assist mechanics who perform this inspection, which is required by KSDE School Bus Regulations. Class instructors will be personnel from the Kansas Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program.
The free workshop is for informational purposes only and no certification will be awarded.
This will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. March 20 at the Dodge City USD 443 District Office Building in Dodge City, and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. March 27 at the El Dorado USD 490 Performing Arts Center Auditorium in El Dorado.
The deadline to register is March 13. For more information and to register, click here.
