Kelly Chanay, who has recently served as assistant director of the Kansas State Department of Education’s (KSDE) Child Nutrition and Wellness (CNW) team, has been named the team’s new director.
Chanay has more than 17 years of experience in child nutrition programs. She was hired at KSDE in 2006 as a child nutrition consultant and served as a field consultant in Garden City. Chanay was named a senior child nutrition consultant in 2012 and after serving in that capacity for two years, she was named assistant director.
She is replacing recently retired director Cheryl Johnson, whose last day at KSDE was Oct. 27.
