Four-day Teacher Leader Academy can help advance educator voice

Teachers who are comfortable expressing honest opinions and concerns are four times more likely to be excited about their future careers in education, according to a survey by the Quaglia Institute for School Voice and Aspirations (QISVA).

Quaglia Institute and the Kansas Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS) and Alignment Behavior and Social-Emotional Learning team are partnering for the free 2023-2024 Teacher Leader Academy. There are two locations for the four-day trainings:

  • Wichita: Oct. 3, Dec. 5, Feb. 28 and April 9. Register here
  • Overland Park: Oct. 4, Dec. 6, Feb. 29 and April 10. Register here

The maximum capacity for each location is 70 people. Registrants are signing up for all four training dates. Attending all sessions certifies participants in the QISVA Teacher Leader Academy and there will be an opportunity for them to become a trainer of trainers in the 2024-2025 QISVA series.

The first session will be Understanding the Dynamics of Teacher Voice and Aspirations. The second session is The Voice Process: Listen, Learn, Lead. The third session is Understanding the Importance of My Self-Worth as a Teacher. And the final session is Being Meaningfully Engaged as a Teacher in the Classroom, School and Community.

Participants will cultivate and refine communication skills to improve collaboration and target outcomes; utilize the voice process to more effectively listen to, learn from and lead with colleagues and students; and develop skills to support self-worth, engagement and purpose.
