Kansas State Board of Education members will review guidelines for graduation requirements, present the Kansas State Department of Education Child Nutrition and Wellness (CNW) Kansans CAN 2022-2023 Best Practice Awards and more next week during their August meeting at the Landon State Office Building in Topeka.
The State Board will meet Tuesday, August 8, and Wednesday, August 9.
The KSDE CNW Kansans CAN Best Practice Awards recognize outstanding practice in Child Nutrition and Wellness programs that support the Kansans CAN vision. Five programs will receive this award at Tuesday’s meeting.
During the afternoon portion of Tuesday’s meeting, KSDE’s Dr. David Fernkopf, assistant director of the Career Standards and Assessment Services (CSAS) team, will update the board on policy decisions on the implementation of the new graduation requirements. These requirements are scheduled to begin with the class of 2028, this year’s incoming eighth graders.
