The Reasonable Suspicion Training on Wednesday, July 19, brought 85 commercial driver’s license supervisors to Topeka.
The training is federally mandated for all people who supervise individuals required to have a CDL as a condition of their employment.
The purpose of the training was to enable supervisors to determine whether reasonable suspicion exists to require a driver to take an alcohol and/or drug test. Regulation requires the training to include at least 60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse and 60 minutes on controlled substances use.
Attendees received a certificate of attendance.
The training was offered free of charge to any Kansas school district employee or any Kansas school bus contractor employee.
The event took place at the Kansas Association of School Boards, 1420 S.W. Arrowhead Road in Topeka.
The Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) and the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) partnered to offer the training.
