Attention superintendents, clerks and business managers of school districts: Mark your calendars now and make plans to attend a budget workshop presented by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Craig Neuenswander and Dale Brungardt, director of the Kansas State Department of Education’s (KSDE) School Finance team.
The 2023-2024 budget document will be reviewed and there will be discussion about several new school finance bills passed by the 2023 legislature.
Registration is required to attend. Lunch is included at sites for a fee.
For additional details, open the workshop announcement on the School Finance homepage under What’s New? http://www.ksde.org/Agency/Fiscal-and-Administrative-Services/School-Finance/Whats-New
All budget workshops are from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Budget workshop dates and locations:
Contact the workshop site to register all people attending from your district to guarantee that adequate seating and a workshop packet will be available for all participants. Participants are responsible for the registration fee charged by the host site.
KSDE anticipates the Excel Budget Program will be available to download in late June.
Please note that the dates above are tentative until the legal status of Senate Bill 113 is clarified. The registration process can be started now, and the School Finance team will contact you if changes to dates are necessary.
Save the date: First-year superintendents, as well as first-year board clerks and/or business managers, are encouraged to attend the New Superintendents Budget 101 Workshop from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, July 6, in Salina. Registration information and more details will be available soon. KSDE recommends that new superintendents starting on July 1 should also attend one of the regular budget workshops listed above.
