The window to submit chronic absentee data is May 15 through June 15, said Dr. Robyn Kelso, an education program consultant for the Kansas State Department of Education’s Career, Standards and Assessment Services team.
Chronic absentee data is submitted on the End of the Year Assessment (EOYA) record. However, chronic absentee data isn’t final until all EOYA records have been submitted. Data can be corrected during this same time frame. Please check data carefully for any corrections that might be needed during this window. If a correction is made, the data will roll over overnight and can be checked the next day to ensure the correction went through.
Attendance is a local control decision. How that data is coded is up to individual districts and buildings, Kelso said. Best practice is that having a consistent attendance policy across buildings within districts leads to more accurate data.
