Districts/systems need to have all mentors, mentees and assignments entered in the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) web application, Mentor Programs, and submitted by 5 p.m. Monday, May 1, to ensure that mentor teachers are screened for earning the stipend.
Stipends are prorated amounts based on the total number of eligible mentor teachers, the amount of money available, the years of experience of the mentee and the duration of the mentoring.
The exact stipend won’t be determined until the Mentor Programs system is closed.
When the prorated amounts are determined, funds will be deposited to a district’s general fund at the end of the school year.
Funds must be distributed as stipends to the mentor teachers as requested in the system. Districts can’t redistribute the stipends or use them to fund a district mentoring program.
If you have questions regarding the requirements or navigating the system, contact Leslie Bruton, data systems coordinator in KSDE’s Teacher Licensure, at lbruton@ksde.org or (785) 296-8011.
