The Kansas State Department of Education’s (KSDE) traveling health education exhibit for students in grades K-5 has been updated and can be scheduled now for the upcoming school year.
Body Venture can visit about 100 schools next year, said Cheryl Johnson, director of KSDE’s Child Nutrition and Wellness (CNW) team. Body Venture is an enclosed, walk-through exhibit representing the human body. At each of the Body Venture’s 11 learning stations, a volunteer presenter engages students in an experiential and educational activity focused on healthy choices. It takes each group of students about an hour to complete the Body Venture experience.
Requests to schedule Body Venture for the 2023-2024 school year are now being accepted. Each school pays $1.50 per participating student (minimum of $100 and maximum of $500) to help defray the cost.
A maximum of 500 students can experience Body Venture in one school day.
All schools selected for the 2023-2024 school year will be notified by Aug. 1.
The Request to Schedule form is available here.
