While comparing mentoring plans currently under review with those previously approved, the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) noticed some inconsistencies that need to be addressed.
There are some complete plans. However, many districts/systems didn’t provide processes for requirements in the teacher/specialist mentoring guidelines. Instead, only descriptions of the requirements were provided.
Instead of dealing with this on a plan-by-plan basis, KSDE will work with the Professional Standards Board and the Kansas State Board of Education to develop an action plan that will help districts/systems improve their plans and meet teacher/specialist mentoring guidelines.
For any district/system that has been waiting for a mentoring plan review (and is currently marked “Working on Compliance”) for Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) Compliance in the KESA authenticated application, KSDE has changed that status to “Fully.”
