The Local Food for Schools (LFS) grant funds must be spent by Dec. 6, with final report forms submitted to KSDE Child Nutrition & Wellness by Dec. 6.
The LFS grant provided funding to purchase locally unprocessed or minimally processed meats in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. Agreements were signed in May 2023 with payments provided in July 2023 and Nov. 2023. Funding must be spent on unprocessed or minimally processed meats that originated within 400 miles of the purchaser’s location.
