Save the date: Kansas Annual Career and Technical Education Conference scheduled for Feb. 5-7

WorkCTE, like ChatGPT, is becoming even more technical, automated and essential for the future. How are Kansas students being prepared for that? Find out more about WorkCTE at the Kansas Annual Career and Technical Education Conference, scheduled for Feb. 5-7 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan.

Registration is now open for the conference, which is sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) and the Kansas Association of Educational Service Agencies (KAESA).

The conference will support and empower schools in developing quality pathways that lead students to college and career readiness.

Kansas high school students were asked to create the 2024 CTE conference logo, website banner and informational flyer. Conference committee members and marketing professionals selected the three best designs from the submitted entries.

Senior Alexia Wilcox and sophomore Maliha Maknojia, both from Halstead High School, Halstead-Bentley Unified School District 440, received first place for their design. They received a $300 prize.

“Their conference logo incorporates a variety of elements with a clean look that KAESA judges especially liked,” the KAESA website states.

Logan Fixsen, a senior at De Soto High School, De Soto USD 232, received second place and $200 for his design.

Third place and $100 went to Rayne Elizabeth Russell, a senior at Phillipsburg High School, Phillipsburg USD 325.

The cost for the conference on or before Jan. 15, 2024, is $175 per person. The cost after Jan. 15 is $225 per person. Presenters pay a $100 registration fee.
