The Kansas Technical Assistance System Network (TASN) School Mental Health Initiative (SMHI) is hosting a Trauma-Responsive School Community Facilitation Workshop in January 2024.
The prevalence of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and the extent to which they impact child/youth development and the adults who support them, has prompted the need for school communities to move beyond trauma-informed to trauma-responsive. The Trauma-Responsive School Community Facilitation Workshop provides training and ongoing coaching for facilitators interested in systemically implementing a trauma-responsive school community.
Participants will walk away with full access to engaging instructional tools and resources, listed below, as well as support to apply a structured process to develop goals and monitor implementation at all levels.
The training is open to individuals who can and will facilitate training for systemic implementation of a trauma-responsive school community.
Participants will complete eLearning modules and applications independently prior to the onsite training. Onsite training includes facilitation modeling and practice using resources.
The onsite training will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 24, 2024, at the Kansas State University Salina Aerospace and Technology Campus, 2310 Centennial Road in Salina.

TASN SMHI is an approved provider for the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board. Following the onsite training, those licensed through BSRB can receive five continuing education credits. All other professionals may receive certificates of attendance, available to download upon completion of a brief evaluation.
An informational webinar (live and recorded) will take place from 10-10:45 a.m. Dec. 14 via Zoom. Prework: Independent Module Review will be Dec. 14, 2023-Jan. 24, 2024.
