Core Instructional Materials Support
In support of school improvement, the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) is collecting data on instructional materials used in Kansas schools. This data will help KSDE understand statewide material usage and inform resource allocation.
Superintendents received an email this week from KSDEsurvey@tntp.org with a unique link to a Qualtrics data collection tool. Districts are asked to identify primary instructional materials for K-12 English language arts, K-12 mathematics, and K-8 science, along with adoption years. A FAQ document can be found at this link.
The survey should be completed by staff members who have direct knowledge of the curriculum and instructional materials (such as curriculum directors or teaching and learning directors). A good step to prepare for this is to review the FAQ that is posted on the Division of Learning Services webpage.
Additionally, districts must indicate whether they use the three-cueing system model of reading or visual memory programs. The state legislature now requires KSDE to develop a list of school districts using “curriculum and training materials which include the three-cueing system model of reading or visual memory program.” This data collection will be used to create a report on the status of three-cueing that will be provided to the Senate Committee on Education, House Committee on Education and the House Committee on K-12 Education Budget.

School Improvement and Accreditation Timeline for progress
The deadline for facilitator applications is Friday, April 12. The application will be closed after this date. A facilitator training will be scheduled soon.
Regional spring/summer/fall KESA 2.0 informational sessions are being scheduled. These will be held at service centers around the state and will be offered in the morning and afternoon. The list of sessions is below:
The morning sessions are from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The afternoon sessions are from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

At-Risk Evidence-Based List Information
The State Board has approved a new Evidence-Based List of programs and practices for at-risk students. The Provisional Application for school districts is available. The Vendor At-Risk Application also is available and districts may share it with any vendors that express interest.
