Sharing Kindergarten Readiness Snapshot results with families

On Aug. 21, Kansas Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) Online users received the third installment of Kansas Kindergarten Readiness Snapshot News & Updates, a five-part guide to a successful start to the kindergarten year.

Each edition provides proven resources to guide Kansas educators through each step of the Ages & Stages Questionnaires® (ASQ®) screening process. If you’re not a Kansas ASQ Online user, visit https://agesandstages.com/ks to sign up for these emails and to view past newsletters.

The Kindergarten Readiness Snapshot is an opportunity for educators to partner with families to get ready for the start of the kindergarten year. Gathering information from families, and having follow-up conversations about ASQ results, gives schools the chance to build relationships and to learn more about students’ individual strengths and needs. This can establish the foundation for an excellent partnership in each child’s learning.

Administrators should make sure all staff who will be responsible for engaging with families and reviewing ASQ data can log in to the ASQ Online system. ASQ users can log in to the ASQ Online system at https://asqonline.com. Users can use the “Forgot password?” and “Forgot username?” buttons to reset login credentials. Program administrators can create new users’ accounts by selecting “Program” and “Add Program User.”

Visit agesandstages.com/ks for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), guides and “how-to” videos on how to implement ASQ.

Remember: To advance kindergarten readiness, all Kansas elementary schools are required to partner with families to better understand incoming kindergarten students’ development. The 2024 Snapshot window closes Sept. 20. Schools should administer both the ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 questionnaires to all incoming kindergarten students by Sept. 20. All data (including pending Family Access screenings and finalized manual screenings) must be entered in ASQ Online by Sept. 27.
