College credit, student art winners announced for Great Ideas in Education conference

Make plans to attend this year’s Great Ideas in Education conference, “Lighting the Path Forward,” Oct. 23-25, by clicking here to register, make room reservations, access the schedule and see the list of titles, strands and audiences for the breakout sessions.

NEW: The following students will be recognized at the Great Ideas in Education conference as the winners of the 2024 student art contest: 

  • First place: Mareesa Hempler, Norton Community High School, Norton Community Schools USD 211 
  • Second place: Lilianna Durham, Lincoln Central Elementary, Cherryvale USD 447 
  • Third place: Adelade Schneider, St. Joseph Catholic School and Church, McPherson  


KSDE is encouraging districts and buildings to bring a leadership team to learn together. Each district will be slightly different according to size and district needs. Teams of four will receive a discount on registration. The following are suggestions for team members:    

  • Superintendent  
  • Curriculum leaders  
  • Building administrators  
  • Classroom teachers   
  • Special education professional(s)/teacher(s)   
  • ELL professional   
  • CTE teacher(s)   
  • Fine Arts teacher(s)
