KESA reporting adjustments reminder for 2022-2023

As systems begin scheduling their on-site visits for accreditation, the Kansas State Department of Education’s (KSDE) Accreditation and Design (AD) team wanted to send out a reminder regarding the Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) reporting expectations for this year.

Systems in year five for the 2022-2023 school year, and Outside Visitation Teams (OVTs) supporting systems in year five, will have no changes made to the report. Year five systems and OVTs will operate under the current reporting expectations.

Systems in years one through four during the 2022-2023 school year will not need to complete all sections of the existing KESA forms/authenticated application. In order to respond to the feedback received regarding KESA reporting, the AD team is adjusting the reporting requirements for systems in years one through four for the 2022-2023 school year. Systems will only be required to complete three sections: Compliance, Needs Assessment Process and Goals, and Assurances. All other sections of the KESA report will be considered optional for the 2022-2023 school year. Learn more about the reporting adjustments here.

OVT chairs for systems in years one through four in the 2022-2023 school year will only need to provide feedback on the sections completed by the systems. If the system chooses to complete an optional section, the OVT will provide feedback on those sections. However, OVT chairs and systems will have completed the requirements for systems in years one through four in 2022-2023 if they have completed the three required sections: Compliance, Needs Assessment Process and Goals, and Assurances.
