Reminder: Kansas State Interagency Coordinating Council (SICC) hosts virtual fall retreat

The Kansas State Interagency Coordinating Council (SICC) is hosting a virtual retreat for local councils, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., on Nov. 1.

This free event is a learning opportunity for anyone who works with children birth to five years of age. Attendees will learn the following:

  • How daily routines and naturalistic communication strategies increase language learning;
  • How to access and use Promoting Communication Tools for Advancing Language in Kids (PC TALK) communication tools;
  • How individual differences, sensory processing, body needs, feelings, and emotions impact behavior; and
  • How to investigate what a child's behavior is communicating.

The trainers are Dr. Dale Walker and Dr. Kathy Bigelow, of the University of Kansas Juniper Gardens Children’s Project, and Ingrid Pohl, of Kansas Child Care Training Opportunities, Inc. (KCCTO).

The Kansas State Interagency Coordinating Council is responsible for advising and assisting on matters that impact Kansas families with children, ages birth to five who have, or are at risk for, developmental delays. Learn more about the State ICC at kansasicc.ksde.org
