The 2024 Great Ideas in Education Conference: Lighting the Path Forward, will focus on the tools necessary to strengthen school improvement efforts to support each Kansas student. Through professional development and networking opportunities, the KSDE Great Ideas in Education Conference will help school personnel improve policies and strategies to produce safe learning environments and quality teaching and learning practices for each student.

KSDE strongly encourages our schools to bring a district or building leadership team.  To give you some ideas on the make-up of those teams, please consider the following: 

District Leadership Team (Size and makeup of the team will vary based on your local system’s size and needs.)

Superintendent, high school principal(s), preK-8 principal(s), preK-12 counselor(s), preK-5 classroom teacher(s), 6-8 classroom teacher(s), 9-12 classroom teacher(s), special education professional/teacher(s), ELL professional, CTE teacher(s), fine arts teacher(s), technology staff.

Building Leadership Team (Size and makeup of the team will vary based on local system’s size and needs.)

Principal(s), assistant principal(s), counselor(s), grade level teacher(s) or subject area teacher(s), special education teacher(s), fine arts teacher(s), careers counselor(s), CTE teacher(s), physical education/health teacher(s), school psychologist, school nurse, paraeducator, school safety personnel.

Strands planned for this conference will include areas to support the Four Fundamentals, KESA structures, and more:
