The National Weather Service (NWS) has scheduled a statewide tornado drill for 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6. This falls during Severe Weather Preparedness Week, which is March 4-8.
Per K.S.A. 31-133, each school district is to conduct a tornado drill during the month of March. Please work with your county emergency manager to conduct your tornado drill. If there is severe weather forecasted for that day, the statewide tornado drill will be rescheduled.
The NWS said residents should treat the drill as if it were an actual Tornado Warning. The purpose of the drill is to test everyone's readiness for life-threatening severe weather.
