KSDE’s Accreditation and Design team hosting monthly update next week

The Kansas State Department of Education’s (KSDE) Accreditation and Design will offer Kansas Educational Systems Accreditation (KESA) updates via Zoom from 9-9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12.

To join the meeting, click here. The meeting ID is 817 5984 8641 and the passcode is 350663.

Also, below you can access a regional map of systems/cohorts and also a list of systems by region and the KSDE regional executive they are assigned to.

For clarity, systems in a region are grouped geographically, while systems in a cohort are grouped by the similarities they share.

There are three regions (West, Central, East), with 87 or 88 systems in each.

  • West region systems – Amber Miller.
  • Central region systems – KSDE is working to fill this position by January prior to the start of the KESA check-ins.
  • East region systems – Myron Melton/Jay Scott will split the systems in this region for the 2024 spring semester.

There are four cohorts (Urban, Suburban, Private, Special Purpose) with varying numbers of “like” systems within each cohort.

  • Urban cohort – Myron Melton/Jay Scott
  • Suburban cohort – Myron Melton/Jay Scott
  • Private cohort – Myron Melton/Jay Scott
  • Special Purpose cohort – Amber Miller

KESA check-ins this spring will take place from mid-January to the end of the school year. This means a regional executive will visit with each of their systems on site to establish a collaborative relationship, discuss the school improvement process and to talk about the system’s journey through accreditation.

If you have any questions, contact the Accreditation and Design team at accreditation@ksde.org.
