KSDE’s Accreditation and Design team bringing Adaptive Schools Training to Kansas

The Kansas State Department of Education’s Accreditation and Design (AD) team is bringing Adaptive Schools Training to Kansas during the next three school years.

“Strong instructional leadership is critical to systems’ changes and continuous improvement,” said Sarah Perryman, a coordinator on the AD team. “Leading a system through change and adaptive challenges requires intentionality and professional learning.”

By engaging in the four-day training, district leadership teams will have the capacity to:

  • Be flexible and adaptive with their structure while also being clear about their identity.
  • Build collaborative, professional cultures and develop highly productive teams.
  • Foster innovation while maintaining and supporting foundational practices that have proven to be impactful.
  • Address the adaptive challenges currently facing systems across Kansas (staff shortages, high turnover, professional development needs, etc.).

The trainings are for district leadership teams, including superintendents, directors, principals and department chairs. Team sizes should be three to five people because there are only 50-80 spots available per location. Registration will remain open until the events are at capacity. There is a fee to attend the trainings.

Upcoming trainings, which will be facilitated by Carol Brooks Simoneau, will take place at Southwest Plains Conference Center in Sublette; Greenbush in Lawrence; Orion Education and Training in Clearwater; ESSDACK in Hutchinson; and Smoky Hill Education Service Center in Salina. There are dates in October 2023 and January and February 2024.
