KDOT Division of Aviation accepting artwork for contest

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) Division of Aviation is currently accepting artwork for the 2023 National Association of State Aviation Officials art contest.

KDOT will honor the first-place winner of each category on Feb. 16, 2023, at the 2023 Aviation Day at the Capitol.

The 2023 Aviation Art Contest is open to students ages 6-17. The 2023 theme is “Air Sports and the Environment.” All artwork must be done by hand. Any of the following media are permitted – watercolor, oil paint, felt-tip pens, indelible ink, acrylic, indelible marker pens, soft ball-point pens, Crayola or other similar indelible medium.

The first-place winner in each age group in Kansas will receive a prize package sponsored by the Kansas Commission on Aerospace Education (KCAE). All art entries will be displayed at the Capitol during Aviation Day in February.

The deadline for state submissions is Monday, Jan. 10, 2023.

The top art submissions from each state will compete at the national level. From there, the first-, second- and third-place national winners will be forwarded to the FAI for an international competition.
