Community Eligibility Provision election slated for Dec. 1-31

On Oct. 23, 2023, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) granted the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) request to waive the requirement for the annual Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) election deadline and date used to determine the identified student percentage (ISP) for the 2023-2024 school year.

Districts interested in electing CEP for the second semester that have an ISP greater than 25% as of April 1, 2023, should contact their area child nutrition consultant or the KSDE Child Nutrition and Wellness (CNW) team in Topeka for assistance.

Changes in KN-CLAIM to elect CEP for second semester can’t be made until Dec. 1, and must be completed by Dec. 31.
