Season three of Cool Careers video series begins with ‘Sheet Metal Mechanic’

Kansas student correspondent learns how airplanes are made in HirePath’s episode 14

“More than 25,000 planes take off and land each day in the United States,” correspondent Maya shares in the first video of the third season of “Cool Careers.”  “But did you know, most of these planes get their start in Kansas?”

Maya shares how airplanes are made and how many get produced right here in Kansas at Spirit AeroSystems during the first episode of the third season of the “Cool Careers video series produced by HirePaths. She follows Tray, a sheet metal mechanic who works on the body of airplanes.

Each episode of “Cool Careers” is hosted by a Kansas child and highlights a fun, in-demand career in Kansas.

The very first “Cool Careers” episode is hosted by correspondent Ivan, who takes students on a tour of Foresite in Overland Park to learn about the high-demand, high-paying job of a cybersecurity analyst.

Other episodes include information about drone pilots, plumbers, robotics and automation engineers, heavy equipment technicians, electrical process engineers, elementary school teachers, wind turbine technicians, welders, carpenters, pilots, distribution support specialists and medical imaging technicians.

The mission of HirePaths is to inform and excite parents and guardians, as well as K-12 teachers, about options young people can pursue after high school to launch a successful, well-paying career. This includes on-the-job training programs, apprenticeships, and technical and community college education.
