KSDE: Kansas meets SpEd compliance requirements on state level of determination

The Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) announced Thursday, June 29, that the state of Kansas has met special education compliance requirements on its state level of determination.

All states and recognized territories are required to collect data on 17 indicators and report it annually to the Office of Special Education Programs. This indicates how well each state is meeting compliance outcomes, as well as results outcomes for students with disabilities.

A state must achieve an average score of at least 80% to receive a "Meets Requirements" rating. Kansas received 79.1% for the results indicator and 100% for the compliance indicators, which averages 89.58%.

This is the 14th year that Kansas has received a level of "Meets Requirements" determination. This means that Kansas has attained the highest level of achievement in providing services to children and youth with disabilities.
