Chronic absentee data can be submitted, corrected via EOYA record through June 30

Systems have until June 30 to submit and correct chronic absentee data via the End of the Year Assessment (EOYA) record, said Dr. Robyn Kelso, an education program consultant with the Kansas State Department of Education’s (KSDE) Career, Standards and Assessments Services (CSAS) team.

“Attendance is a local-control decision,” Kelso said. “How that data is coded is up to individual districts and buildings. Best practice would indicate that having a consistent attendance policy across buildings within districts leads to more accurate data.”

Chronic absentee data isn’t final until all EOYA records have been submitted, she added. Data can be corrected from May 15-June 30.

“Check your data correctly for any corrections that might be needed during this window,” Kelso said.

If a correction is made, the data will roll over overnight and can be checked the next day to ensure the correction went through.

Once data is uploaded, systems can log into AMOSS and run the Chronic Absentee Report and evaluate the data uploaded, which is encouraged.
