The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has announced that the 2023-2024 Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) is tentatively scheduled to open on December 9, 2024, and close on March 7, 2025.
The 2023-24 CRDC General Overview, Changes, and List of Data Elements has been posted on the Search CRDC Resources page. To locate the document, select the 23-24 School Year on the leftmost column, enter “General Overview” in the KEYWORD search field, and then click enter.
As with prior CRDCs, KSDE will preload data that was collected by KSDE to reduce the reporting burden for LEAs. There will be an opt-out process in the fall for LEAs who wish to enter all of their data. LEAs are ultimately responsible for Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of all data prior to Certifying their CRDC.
There are many resources posted on the CRDC Resource Center about the data to report, which schools to report, and other relevant information on completing the process. On the Search CRDC Resources page there are several documents that may answer commonly asked questions.
KSDE has a listserv used to communicate updates on the CRDC process including notifications from CRDC, reminders for steps in the process, and updates on the assistance offered by KSDE intended to ease the reporting burden on districts. OCR CRDC web page This website will give you background of the CRDC, links to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval of the data collection, specifications of tables and fields that are to be reported, a calendar of expected open and close dates, a Q&A document along with access to prior years collections.
OCR CRDC Resource Center This website is an additional tool where you can learn about and prepare for the CRDC. There are many publications and tools for your reference.
