On December 10, 2015 President Obama signed into law the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which reauthorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). This latest update revises provisions in the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, and includes many reforms that return returns flexibility to the state while maintaining accountability for the success of all children. KSDE will be working over the coming weeks to analyze every part of the new law, and to provide updates and resources as they become available.

KSDE is soliciting questions from the public that will be used to inform the creation of FAQs and other resources that will be posted to this webpage. The Early Childhood, Special Education and Title Services team will continue to send out current information on the list servs in order to keep you up to date.
