CTE Achievements and Recognition

Demonstrated excellence in career and technical education is strongly valued by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE).  This webpage will list those who have earned this recognition, students, teachers, schools and districts.

Student Recognition:

KS CTE Scholar

The KS CTE Scholar recognition was awarded for the first time in 2017.  This annual award recognizes students who have indicated a well-rounded demonstration of knowledge and skill according to their experiences within career and technical education.  Achievement by senior students indicates academic achievement, CTE knowledge with excellence, community engagement through leadership demonstration, documentation of skill attainment and ability to verbal their career vision.  Those earning this status are listed by school year ending date.

Presidential CTE Scholar

Beginning in 1964, the U.S. President recognizes students for academic achievement demonstrating exceptional academic achievement.  In 1979, this was expanded to include the visual, creative and performing arts, and again in 2015 to recognize 20 outstanding students with demonstrated ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields. This includes academic rigor, technical competence, employability skills, ingenuity, creativity and problem solving. Those earning recognition for this award are listed below by school year ending date.
