State is a leader in providing consolidated access to Open Education Resources

TOPEKA – The Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) recently launched the Open Education Resources (OER) website, providing Kansas educators with links to a wide range of free learning materials for students. The OER website supplies access to thousands of free digital textbooks, E-books, and other online resources, as well as numerous resources for the visually impaired.

KSDE is among a handful of state education agencies in the nation to provide a single location to access free educational materials that can be customized and modified to fit individual needs.  Materials available through the website can be distributed to smartphones, tablets, E-Readers and other devices to ensure easy accessibility. Through the website, individuals can also gain access to online learning communities.

“We’re thrilled to have this resource available for Kansas educators,” said Jackie Lakin, Education Program Consultant for the Kansas State Department of Education. “We hope the site will provide timely and useful resources that will assist in the process of digital learning.”

Visit the Open Education Resources website by following the link on the KSDE home page, www.ksde.org.  For more information on OER, contact Jackie Lakin at jlakin@ksde.org, or Lue Ann Snider at lasnider@ksde.org
