TOPEKA — Kansas students improved performance on statewide reading and mathematics assessments for the eleventh straight year, according to results from the 2011 Kansas Statewide Assessments released today at the State Board of Education meeting in Topeka. Results showed that in the areas of reading and mathematics, there are higher percentages of students performing at the exemplary level than at any of the other four performance levels on the assessments.

TOPEKA — Results from the 2010 Kansas Statewide Assessments show a 10-year growth trend in reading and mathematics statewide. Students performing in the top three performance levels on the reading assessment increased to 86.3 percent in 2010, up from 85.7 percent in 2009. On the mathematics assessment, students in the top three performance levels totaled 83.1 percent in 2010, up from 82.8 percent in 2009. Participation rates topped 99 percent in each subject area.

The assessment results were presented today during the State Board of Education meeting in Topeka.
